NAME2IP / FIELD NOTES

Using these tools responsibly

Free, general-purpose information—not a guarantee or a production change service.

Verify consequential decisions

Results can be incomplete, cached or affected by external services. Check important information independently. A lookup does not establish identity, authorization, safety, reachability or ownership. Guides do not replace your organization’s support policies.

Respect shared resources

Use the endpoints at reasonable volumes. Do not overload the service, bypass request limits or use it to facilitate abuse. The application limits requests and upstream lookups to keep tools available. Availability is not guaranteed.

No automatic changes

These tools do not configure DNS, administer devices, publish generated files, submit support tickets or contact third parties on your behalf. Review any report or generated configuration before using it.

Shared Request Budgets

NAME2IP allows 60 requests per source IP in any rolling 60 seconds across pages, assets and endpoints. DNS batches have a separate limit of 6 requests per minute. Shared public IPs share these budgets. On HTTP 429, wait for Retry-After before retrying. Do not evade these limits or use the service to facilitate abuse.
